A wardrobe decision

Wednesday, September 10, 2008
I'm going to Branson to see Noah the musical at the Sight and Sound Theatre.

Deciding what to wear and pack for the overnight bus trip is getting ridiculous.

I can't decide what to wear and what to take. I've noticed this dilemma is occurring often lately.

I have my small red suitcase on the daybed but, as yet, there's nothing in it. Shall I pack the denim pants with top to match or shall I take the green polyester pants and sleeveless top?

I will need a light jacket or sweater, but which one shall I take; the rose colored jacket or the black sweater? Shall I iron the checkered pants and wear those instead? Which would be the better choice?

I'm going on the overnight trip with my girlfriend and her husband. I'm sure she has had her bags packed for three days already. She is so organized.

Each night before she goes to bed, she selects what she will be wearing the next day. There's no deciding the next morning what she should or shouldn't wear, no indecision.

She will switch purses to match the clothes she plans to wear and she decides beforehand which shoes she will wear. Mind you, she doesn't work outside the home so that's not an issue. The next day's activity or schedule is what dictates her wardrobe, whether it be shopping, eating lunch with a friend, a social event, or babysitting.

Mine is hit or miss. I haven't the slightest idea what I will wear the next day and it doesn't cross my mind. For an evening out, I might change clothes three or four times before I settle on what I will wear. I will go from closet to closet searching for something that pleases me.

Just last week, I saw a friend at a social gathering. I complimented her on the outfit she was wearing and mentioned that I had changed four times before I decided on the outfit I was wearing that night. "Me too," she said. "I just couldn't decide what to wear."

Now that's a woman I can identify with. We're in the same (Noah's) boat.

I wonder if Noah had that problem. There he was going on a long voyage with all those cooped up animals. From what I've read, it rained forty days and forty nights, but Noah and family members were aboard the Ark for five or six months before the flood waters abated and they could go ashore.

Did Noah think about what he should pack for the voyage or did he, like many men, just say, "Let me get my other belt and I'm ready to go."

More likely, he left the packing to his wife. For sure, she packed work clothes.

By the time you read this, I will have been to Branson and back with a bus load of travelers.

I sure hope I was coordinated.

Wardrobe decisions can be a pain.
