Gary Thompson

Gary Thompson, 46, a life-long resident of Piggott, died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008, at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.

He was born Dec. 4, 1961, in Kennett, the son of Billy and Betty (Greer) Thompson.

He was a graduate of the Piggott High School Class of 1980, and will be missed by many relatives and friends. He spent many of the last 20 years as a truck driver, where he enjoyed traveling the country.

His father, Billy Thompson, preceded him in death.

He is survived by his long-time girlfriend and companion, Ann Blair; his mother, Betty Thompson; two brothers, Richard Thompson and wife Bev and Whitney Thompson and wife Christal; a sister, Regina Shafer and husband Mark; a son, Christopher Thompson; a daughter, Ana Thompson, and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 27, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Danny Self officiating. Burial was in Williams Cemetery. Pallbearers were Richard Thompson, Mark Shafer, Charlie Davis, Whitney Thompson, Chris Thompson, Kyle Thompson and Jason Keller. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was charged with the arrangements.
