She was born May 15, 1925, in Rector to the late Clarence and Vedis (Huffstutler) Easton. She was retired from Emerson Electric of Paragould and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Paragould, but regularly attended Lake Street Baptist Church with her son George and his family.
She had been a resident of Greene Acres Nursing Home for a short while.
She was married Aug. 1, 1942, in Clay County to J.D. Smith and proudly worked in various support industries while he served in the Army in World War II.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Smith; an infant son, Richard Smith; one daughter, Loretta Smith; grandson, Gale Smith; great-grandson, Samson Pohl; four brothers, Carl, James, Glen and Harold Easton, and two sisters, infant sister Freda Easton and Imogene (Easton) Thomas.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, George and Michele Smith of Paragould and Dr. Donnie and Linda Smith of Quincy, Ill.; one brother, Alvie Easton of Rogers; one sister, Marcella (Easton) Cooper of Paragould; five sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, at Irby Funeral Home Chapel in Rector with Bro. Wayne Faulkner officiating. Burial was in Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector with Irby Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Dale Smith, Troy Smith, David Smith, Kevin Pohl, Russ Smith and Dave Knight.
