Audrey Lorene Lamb

Audrey Lorene Lamb of Rockford, Ill., formerly of Rector, died Sept. 7, 2008, at River Bluff Nursing Home in Rockford.

She was born June 10, 1914, in Malden, Mo., to Arthur Crain and Maudie Huffstutler Crain. She lived with her family in Missouri until, at a very young age, she moved with the family to Rector.

She was married in 1932 to Loyd Lamb. In the 1940's they moved to St. Louis, Mo., and in the 1950's to Flint, Mich., and then back to Rockford, where they stayed until they retired and moved to Jonesboro.

In 2000, Mrs. Lamb returned to Rockford to be near her daughter and lived at the Christian Life Retirement Center until she was admitted to River Bluff Nursing Center in June 2006.

She was a member of the Paragould Church of God and attended the First Free Evangelical Church in Rockford. In her younger years she was a member of the White Oak Baptist Church in Rector. She was baptized twice.

She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting and bowling. She was in a senior citizens' bowling league in the 1980's and was awarded a trophy for having the highest score. She also loved art and attended art classes at the retirement center. She enjoyed traveling and visited several states.

Family and friends were very important and special to her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Loyd Lamb; one son, Leon Lamb; her parents, Arthur and Maudie Crain; two sisters, OraLea Crain and Ruth Crain Thompson; two brothers, Roy Melvin Crain and Cleatus Crain; one grandson, Mark Simon, and one great-granddaughter, Stephanie Griffin.

Survivors include one daughter, Bernice Lamb Simon of Rockford; two sisters, Ruby Crain Reynolds of Flint and Margaret Crain Griffin of Paragould; three brothers, Donald Crain of Ore City, Texas, William "Buster" Crain of Pocahontas and Vernon Crain and wife, Pauline, of Orlando, Fla.; three grandchildren, Donna Slaughter of Jonesboro, Connie Griffin of Corydon, Ind., and Charles "Chuck" Simon of Eau Claire, Wis.; four great-grandchildren, Jennifer Griffin, Ben Griffin, Destiny Slaughter, Krissa Slaughter and Michael Jones and his wife, Carley; three great-great-grandchildren, Caden Jones, Madison Jones and Chloe Griffin, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Paragould with Berry Crain officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at Mitchell Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Lindell Pratt, James Daniels, Jimmy Lamb, Gaylon Crain, Joe Hurd and Matt Crain. Terry Pratt will be an honorary pallbearer.
