He was born April 29, 1921 in Hollywood, Mo., to the late Modie Bailey and Edith (Elliott) Tucker. He married Faye Huffines on March 11, 1956, in Hernando, Miss., and she survives.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Forces for three years during World War II, and he and his brother Bill were co-owners of Tuckers Brothers, Inc., the family farm that had been operated by the Tucker family for over 100 years.
Tucker farmed for 44 years in the Bootheel, and in 1958 his family was chosen as the Dunklin County Farm Family of the Year. He served as the secretary and treasurer of the Lulu Cemetery Association for over 30 years and was instrumental in the cemetery's perpetual care fund, coordinated the installation of the cemetery monument and the efforts to blacktop the cemetery roads and install a flag pole. He also served as an unofficial historian for the cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Faye Tucker of Senath; two daughters, Linda Gail Greaney and husband Michael Joseph of Piggott, and Mary Susan Monson and husband Kenneth of Houston, Texas; a brother, Bill Tucker and wife Sandra of Senath; a sister, Edna Dowless of Monette; four grandchildren, Joey Crawford Jr., Erica Payne and husband Josh, Mark Greaney and Michelle Greaney; and great-grandchild Adyson Payne, along with other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Oct. 5, at the McDaniel Chapel in Senath with Raymond Lasley officiating. Burial was in the Lulu Cemetery. Pallbearers were, Mark Greaney, Mike Greaney, Joey Crawford, Josh Payne, Ken Monson and Harold Lee Watson.
McDaniel Funeral Home of Senath was in charge of the arrangements.
