Economic development topic of public meeting

Thursday, October 30, 2008

All local residents are encouraged to attend a public meeting on economic development beginning at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 3, at the Piggott Community Center. The meeting, which should last about half an hour, is being hosted by the Piggott Economic Development Corporation.

The Piggott EDC recently joined with officials from Rector, Corning, Paragould, Pocahontas, Walnut Ridge and Jonesboro in forming a regional economic development coalition, and they are seeking input from the public. The formation of the coalition, which had been encouraged by the state, is expected to increase the chances of bringing new businesses and jobs to the region

All residents who are interested in economic development are encouraged to attend the meeting as the coalition strives to bring new industry and business to Northeast Arkansas.
