Dana Harmon recently opened her All About You salon in Rector.

Dana Harmon has brought her sense of style to Rector, having recently opened her All About You salon at 501 Main Street, next to Rector Realty.

Opening her own shop is the realization of a lifelong ambition for Harmon.

"I've always wanted to have my own salon," Harmon said. "I'm very excited to have this chance. I'm happy to be here in Rector."

Harmon says she is pleased with the location of her new business.

"When I was looking at possible spaces, I thought this would be a really good one," Harmon said. "It's right in the middle of town. I think the city is doing a good job in trying to build the downtown area back up and I wanted to be a part of that."

Harmon is a graduate of the Arkansas Academy of Hair Design in Paragould. She has been working as a stylist in this area for more than a year.

"I've enjoyed working in this area. This is the area where I grew up, so I'm mostly working with people I'm familiar with. That makes it even better."

Harmon says the customers are her favorite part of her work.

"If somebody's having a bad day or feeling a little bit sad, something as easy as a haircut and someone to talk to can really make a difference. I want to help my customers, my friends, anyway I can. Whether it's giving them a new hairstyle or having a good laugh about something, I want them to know I'm here for them."

When not at her salon, Harmon enjoys spending time with her husband, Wes, and their three-year-old daughter, Alexis.

At All About You, customers have the options of receiving new cuts, styles, highlights, colors, perms, eyebrow waxing, pedicures and manicures.

"I wanted to offer my customers as many different style choices as possible," Harmon said. "I'm set up to offer just about anything they want."

All About You is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. The shop also is open from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday. Customers are invited to walk in or make an appointment by calling 595-4146.
