Daniel Thomas Reid

Daniel Thomas Reid, 72, of Rector died Sunday, Oct. 12 at St. Vincent Hospital in Little Rock. Born May 10, 1936, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to the late Daniel and Eleanor Reid, he was retired from the Air Force and a retired Jacksonville police officer. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, a Shriner and was proud to be the first generation American. His parents were from Ireland.

Also preceding him in death were a brother, James Reid; a granddaughter, Megan Dunn, and a great-granddaughter, Micalia Wall.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Shepard Reid of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Dana Kaye and Ron Davis of Colorado Springs, Colo., Beverly Jean and Jeff Reeder of Weberville, Mich., and Elizabeth Ann and Rory Wentz of Phoenix, Ariz.; one step-daughter, Pamela Dunn of Jonesboro; two step-sons and daughters-in-law, David and Cindy Shepard of Rector and Michael and Christi Shepard of Little Rock, nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and seven step-grandchildren.

Funeral services were at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, at Mitchell Funeral Home in Rector with Bro. Marston Carpenter officiating. Burial was in Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector with full military honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4556.

Pallbearers were Russell Blanchard, William Blanchard, Perry Blanchard, Ron Blanchard, Ed Blanchard and Matt Dement.
