Gregory Pollard

Gregory L. Pollard, 44, of Powell, Tenn., formerly of Pollard, died Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2008, at St. Mary?s Hospital in Knoxville, Tenn.

He was born Feb. 10, 1964, in Poplar Bluff, the son of James R. and Mary (Ballard) Pollard.

He joined the Air Force after graduating from Piggott High School and earned an associate?s degree from the Community College of the Air Force. He later graduated, with distinction, from Pace University of New York, while working full-time in areas of secure communication for our country.

He was honored to serve his country and President while in the Air Force on the White House communications staff. He continued to protect our national security through his work as a communications engineer.

He was a loving and devoted son, husband and father. He was faithful in service to his church and lived out the love of Christ in every area of his life. He was known by his family, friends and co-workers as a man of honor and integrity.

Survivors include his wife, Karen (Adams) Pollard of Powell, Tenn.; his sons, Derek Mitchell Pollard and Robert Jackson; daughters, Amanda Pollard and Bethany Jackson; his parents, James R. and Mary Pollard of Pollard; granddaughter, Mariah Jackson; his brother, Deron Pollard and wife Paula of Piggott; his nephew, Jeremiah, and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Nov. 9, in Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Davey Winberry officiating. Burial was in New Hope Cemetery at Pollard. Pallbearers were Brian Vaughn, Michael Lambert, Durbin Bell, Kevin Wright, Steven Wright and Jim O?Dell. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. A memorial service will also be held in Knoxville at a later date.
