Veda Bell Smith, 93, of Piggott, died Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008, in Piggott.

She was born July 14, 1915, in Piggott, the daughter of the late William Harrison and Sarah Ellen (Holifield) Crockett.

She was united in marriage to Chester E. Smith on Oct. 14, 1964. Her husband, Chester Smith; four brothers, Taylor Crockett, Denver Crockett, John L. Crockett and Cecil Crockett; and two sisters, Edith Gurley and Ester Crockett, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her sister, Eva Dell Burns of Piggott, and her nieces and nephews, Janie Knight, Sue Holcomb, Ronnie Crockett and Davy Crockett, and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, at Mars Hill Methodist Church at Crockett with Boyd Wicker officiating. Burial will be in Mars Hill Cemetery. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home is charged with the arrangements.
