Edwin Runyon

Rev. Edwin Runyon, 85, of Poplar Bluff died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, at his residence. He was a World War II veteran of the Army Air Force, was a member of the South Poplar Bluff General Baptist Church and was the teacher of the Joint Heirs Sunday School class.

He was born July 1, 1923, at Pollard, and married Betty Hamilton on March 16, 1947.

He was preceded in death by a son, John Edwin Runyon.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Runyon of Poplar Bluff; two sons, Carl Runyon and wife Darlene of Owensboro, Ky., and Bob Runyon and wife Sue of Hartsburg, Mo.; daughter-in-law Dina Runyon of Evansville, Ind.; two brothers, Gerald Runyon of Pollard and Kenneth Runyon of Swanwick, Ill.; three sisters, Marie Hillyer, Julia Pittman and Jean Scheffler, all of Piggott, and five grandchildren, Dustin Runyon, Kristen Runyon, Danielle Runyon, John Runyon and Toby Runyon.

Funeral services were Sunday, Dec. 14, at the South Poplar Bluff General Baptist Church with Reverends Keith Luke, Wayne Foust and Leland Duncan officiating. Burial was in the Ash Hill Cemetery.

White-Sanders Funeral Home of Fisk, Mo., was charged with the arrangements.
