Edna Yates

Edna Mae Yates, 80, of Piggott, died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2008, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.

She was born Oct. 7, 1928, in Center Ridge, Ark., and was the daughter of the late Ernest Lee and Margaret (Bryant) Holloway. She was married to Gene Yates on Feb. 18, 1948.

Preceding her in death were her daughter, Janice Busby; brothers, Dennis, Elbert and Cecil Holloway, and sisters, Bernice Parker, Laverne Randolph and Ola Davis.

Survivors include her husband, Gene Yates of Piggott; her son, Rick Yates and wife Kelly of Piggott; daughters, Reta Erwin of Norfork and Jennifer Rhodes and husband Brian of Piggott; eight grandchildren, Reta, Rhonda, Adam, Lacey, Britton, Ashton, Keela and Ethan; sister, Aulene Thornton of Poplar Bluff, and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 23, in Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Charles Carrens and Jonathan Hiles officiating. Burial was in Piggott Cemetery. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of arrangements.
