He was born Sept. 30, 1929, in Detroit, Mich., and was the son of the late Paul Amos Webster and Ruth Marie (Pollard) Webster.
He resided in Enfield, Conn., for 15 years and was a resident of Brunswick, Ga., from 1972 to 1992 before moving to Smyrna, Tenn. He most recently made his home with his family in Springfield, Mass.
He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, but was called home from Korea for a family emergency to care for his father after a hunting accident. The day after he left Korea his entire platoon was killed.
He was a former volunteer member of the Enfield Fire Department, was employed by Phillips Petroleum for 28 years and later spent 10 years with Nissan-Whelan Security.
He is survived by his former wife of 26 years, Nancy Ann Wohlgemuth; his daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn and Wayne Thompson of Springfield, Mass.; a daughter, Sherryl Hale of Hortense, Ga.; a son, Lowell Robert Webster of Taylor, Texas; a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Kim Webster of Royal Palm Beach, Fla.; a son, Russell Garrett Webster of Springfield, Mass., and a daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Mark Wilson of Berea, Ky. He is also survived by a sister, Paula Veach of Poplar Bluff; a sister and brother-in-law, Suzanne and Mark Katic of Brentwood, Tenn.; a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Hilda Webster of Poplar Bluff, 15 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Gary Webster.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 1, at Hoggard and Son's Chapel in Piggott with Loy Culver officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation is set to begin at 6 p.m. today (Wednesday, Dec. 31).
