Molly Redyke (third from left) of Tulsa, Okla., presents a check for $10,500 to Rector High School Helping Hands Foundation president Sherland Hamilton (second from left) for the purchase of a painting of the late Moses Knight, auctioned a special event at the Rector Community Center. Looking on are Helping Hands co-founders Bill Carter (far left) of Lebanon, Tenn., and George Barker (far right) of New York City; artist Paul Frets (second from right) of Radford, Va., who painted the Moses Knight portrait to raise funds for the Foundation, and Molly's grandparents, Jim and Mary (McCluney) Crews of Maumelle, both natives of Rector. Molly purchased the painting in memory of her mother, Sue (Crews) Doshier, who died in a plane crash last year, and her great-grandparents, the late Donald and Doma McCluney of Rector. She is a descendant of the Knight family, which gave Moses his surname. All of the money goes to the Helping Hands Foundation for its work in providing assistance to disadvantaged Rector students.
