Essie Grubb

Essie M. (Burkheart) Grubb, 86, of Shreveport-Keithville, La., died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2008. She was born Dec. 22, 1922, in Clay County and was a resident of the Shreveport-Keithville area for 50 years. She was a member of the Apostolic Faith Tabernacle.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow W. Grubb; a daughter, Ruth Tucker; a son, Sonny Grubb; a grandson, Avery Grubb, two brothers and five sisters.

She is survived by her twin brother, Jesse E. Burkheart; four sons, Harold Grubb, C.W. Grubb and wife Judy, Herbie Grubb and wife Mary, and Jesse Grubb and wife wife Peggy; two daughters, Millie Tucker and Martha Tillman; one daughter-in-law, Shirley Grubb; 20 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday, Jan. 1, in Centuries Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Curtis Spears of Apostolic Faith Tabernacle and Rev. Kent Greer of The Pentecostals of Meriwether officiating. Burial was in the Centuries Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers were her grandsons, Gregory Grubb, Robby Grubb, Darrell Boatner, Tracy Grubb, Jeff Grubb, Tony Grubb, Corey Grubb, James Tillman, Shawn Grubb and Matt Garza.
