Dorothy Mae Foster

Dorothy Mae Foster, 83, of Rector died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2009, at the RaulersonHospital in Okeechobee, Fla.

She was born Oct. 6, 1925, to the late Harry and Ina (Treece) Bradsherin Caruthersville, Mo. Her formative years were energetic and fulfilling. She enjoyed being a majorette in the Lake Orion High School Band. She enjoyed life and embraced it to the fullest. She was instrumental in organizing Ladies Missionary Societies at numerous churches and was an excellent help-mate to her husband of 50 years.

She was married in 1944 to Ed Stasiuk, and they had three daughters, Diana, Debbie and Denise. Denise died shortly after birth and the marriage ended shortly thereafter.

In 1953 she married Harold Batchelor and they had two children, Carol and David. Harold died in 1955 in an auto accident.

In 1959, Mrs. Foster married her current husband, Rev. Marvin Adell Foster, and they had two children, Marvin and Pat.

In addition to her parents and daughter, she was preceded in death by a brother, Delbert Bradsher, and a step-son, Steven Foster.

She is survived by her husband, Rev. Adell Foster; two sons and their wives, David and Dixie Batchelor of Oxford, Mich., and Marvin and Aimee Foster of Stuart, Fla.; four daughters and their spouses, Diana Hill of Lodi, N.J., Deborah and Jerry Miracle of Henderson, Nev., Carol and Gene Barnes of Delaware, Ark., and Pat and Gerald Benson of Taylor, Mich.; two step-sons and their wives, Randy and Andrea Foster of Waterford, Mich., and Mark and Su-Young Foster of Dayton, Ohio; a step-daughter and her spouse, Marsha and Bob Ison of Farwell, Mich.; three brothers and their wives, Charles and Reva Bradsher of Daytona Beach, Fla., Amos and Dottie Bradsher of Holly, Mich., and Larry and Sharon Bradshser of Lapeer, Mich.; two sisters, Genevieve Smith of Jonesboro, Ga., and Karen and Calvin Voorheis of Holly, Mich.; a sister-in-law, Lil Bradsher of Holly, Mich., 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, at the First General Baptist Church in Rector with Bro. Marston Carpenter officiating. Interment was in Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector.
