Aileen McCord, 97, of Rector died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009, at her home.

She was born June 23, 1911, in Clay County to the late W.L. and Ruth (Copeland) McGinnis.

She was a beautician and received a plaque from Carr Hill Beauty Supply for 61 years of service in that field. At one time she was the longest known beauty operator in Arkansas.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Theron Gatewood, in 1951, and her husband, Amzie McCord, in 1986.

Survivors include three step-sons and their wives, Jim McCord of Kennett, John and Janice McCord of DeWitt and Jack and Kay McCord of Pocahontas; two step-daughters, Mary Lou Horton of Jonesboro and Joan French of Rector; a brother, Bill McGinnis of Illinois; three sisters, Alice Pulliam of Illinois, Elsie Blackwood of North Carolina and Ruth Margaret Beckley of Tennessee; 10 step-grandchildren, Linda Anderson, Jeff Horton, Janet Chronister, Mark McCord, Derek McCord, Matt McCord, Melissa McCord, Melany McCord, Blake McCord and Tara Miller, along with 11 step-great-grandchildren, Neal and Katya Chronister, John Phillip and Rachel Horton, Paige and Claire McCord, Marshall and Jason Drew McCord, Noah Smith and Mary Katherine and Payton Miller.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, at Irby Funeral Home in Rector. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. There will be no graveside services.
