The Piggott junior Mohawks split conference games in the past week. Last Tuesday they traveled to Hoxie and dropped a 28-45 decision to the Mustangs, then Monday night they cruised to an 11 point home win over the Brookland Bearcats.

Playing only their second game since before Christmas, the junior Mohawks hosted the Bearcats in a game that had originally been scheduled for later in the year. As the contest got underway the Tribe's "inside-outside" offensive attack was hitting on all cylinders and the Piggott squad jumped out to a 9-3 lead by the end of the first quarter.

In the second frame the Tribe stretched the lead to 23-14, but the Bearcats responded following halftime and cut it to 35-27 going into the fourth quarter. But in the final frame the junior Mohawks outscored their opponents 14-11 as they notched the 49-38 win.

Pacing the junior squad on the night was point guard Spencer Coomer with 17, while "inside" guys Connor Rodery and Zach Redmon finished with 12 points each. Davis led the Bearcats in the loss with 14.

With the loss to Hoxie, and the win over the Bearcats, the junior Mohawks extended their season record to 3-7 overall and 2-4 in conference play. The junior boys were scheduled to visit the Corning Bobcats Tuesday night, and are slated to travel to Manila on Friday.
