Attrice Aulene Thornton

Attrice Aulene Thornton, 88, of Poplar Bluff, died Sunday, January 11, 2009 at the Cedar Gate Nursing Home in Poplar Bluff.

She was born April 3, 1920 at Center Ridge, Ark. the daughter of the late Lee Ernest and Margaret (Bryant) Holloway.

She was united in marriage to Roland E. Thornton on Nov. 16, 1940, and the couple had four children.

She was preceded in death by her husband Roland Thornton; three brothers, Cecil, Elbert and Dennis Holloway; four sisters, Ola Davis, Laverne Randolph, Bernice Parker and Edna Mae Yates.

She is survived by three sons, Jerry Thornton of Milton, Fla., Dwight Thornton of Oviedo, Fla. and Glenn Thornton of Poplar Bluff; one daughter, Phyllis Barnetson of Carroll, Ohio; twelve grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 12, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel. Burial was in the Piggott Cemetery. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was charged with the arrangements.
