Doise Winfred Lack

Doise Winfred Lack, 85, of Corning, formerly of Piggott, died Friday, Jan. 9, 2009, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.

He was born Nov. 17, 1923, in Clay County to the late Tom Lack and Bertha (Brawner) Lack. He was married Oct. 23, 1943, to Vernie Ratliff. She preceded him in death Jan. 12, 2006.

He had worked as a truck driver and was a member of the Church of Christ, attending regularly at Greenway until he was no longer able.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Dwight Lack and Paul Thomas Lack, and one sister, Madeline Bell.

He is survived by one son, James Lack and wife Sharlene of Kennett, Mo.; one daughter, Dian Herren and husband Douglas of Corning; three grandchildren, Tessa Dees, Melody French and Brian Herren; one great-granddaughter, Nyla Dees, and many other family members and friends.

Graveside services were held Sunday, Jan. 11, at the Piggott Cemetery with Bro. Topper Killough officiating. Irby Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of arrangements.
