Lady Mohawks at Rivercrest

The Piggott Lady Mohawks traveled down I-55 Monday night, and dropped a pair of conference games to the Lady Colts of Rivercrest.

Lady Mohawks vs Colts

The Lady Mohawks had two players in double-figures Monday night as they dropped a 38-58 conference loss to Rivercrest. Scoring by quarters had the Colts up 18-8 at the end of one, and leading 30-18 at the halftime intermission. The home team outscored the Mohawks 17-11 in the third quarter and 11-9 in the fourth as they posted the 20 point win.

Penny McCluskey paced the Tribe with 12 on the game, as Chelsea Covurrabia contributed an additional 10. Also scoring were Kenna Dennis with eight, Taylor Coomer with six, Hillary French with five and Michelle Greaney with two. As a team the Mohawks were 11 for 41 on field goal attempts, made three out of nine three-point shots and were seven of 12 from the charity stripe.

Junior Lady Mohawks vs Colts

The junior Lady Mohawks also dropped their game to the Colts Monday night, as they fell by a final of 34-43. In the first quarter of play neither team could get things going, and at the end of the first period Rivercrest led by a score of 6-5. In the second quarter the Lady Colts outscored the young Mohawks 12-6, as they took an 18-11 halftime lead into the locker room. In the second half the Lady Mohawks made some adjustments, and were able to hang with the home team. Third quarter scoring was 12-11 Rivercrest, and the junior Lady Colts outscored the Tribe 13-12 in the fourth quarter to notch the 11 point win.

Both Lady Mohawk squads were scheduled to visit Brookland Tuesday night, and are scheduled to host the Earle Lady Bulldogs along with the boy's teams this Friday, Jan. 22, at PHS.
