Norma Lee (Polk) Polsgrove, Benson, Martin, 86, of Rector, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009, at her home.

She was born Jan. 11, 1923, in Elvins, Mo., to the late E. Clay and Frances "Nanny" Polk. She was affectionately known by many as "Norm."

She graduated from Campbell (Mo.) High School and received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. She retired from teaching in 1988 after having taught in Piggott and Campbell schools. She was a member of the Rector First Baptist Church, where she enjoyed being a part of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class and of the Penn-Lyle Circle.

She is survived by her husband, Eugene Martin; son and daughter-in-law, Harold Lynn and Sherry Polsgrove of Russellville; daughter and son-in-law, Vicky and Tim Tesreau of Doniphan, Mo.; daughter-in-law, Barbara Polsgrove of Newport; step-daughters and son-in-law, Brenda and Mike Gibson of Hot Springs, Ann Martin of Rector and Phyllis Harden of Pine Bluff; step-sons and daughter-in-law, Mike and Kathie Benson of Rector and Bill Martin of Rector; a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy "Doodle" and Ernie Chittick of Rector; sister-in-law, Meredia Dalton of Campbell; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Floyd and Peggy Polsgrove of Campbell; seven grandchildren, 12 step-grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and 14 step-great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her first husband of 31 years, Harold Morris Polsgrove; her second husband of 16 years, Ghuyraine Benson; her son, David Lee Polsgrove; her brother, Elmer "Sock" Polk, and one step-grandson, "little Bill" Martin.

Visitation began at 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, in the Irby Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services were Saturday, Jan. 24, in the Rector First Baptist Church with Brother Ardell Polk officiating. Interment was in the Piggott Cemetery.
