Twyla Baker

Twyla Baker, 84, of Piggott died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009, at Piggott Community Hospital. She was born April 11, 1924, and was the daughter of the late Claude and Vera (Braden) Montgomery.

She was married to Joel Taylor Baker July 5, 1946, and the couple had four children.

Preceding her in death were her son, Michael Baker; a daughter, Ella Baker; two sisters, Elaine Bomar and Alice Morrow, and two brothers, Claude Montgomery Jr. and Donald Montgomery.

She is survived by her daughter, Terrie Jackson of Arlington, Tenn; a son, Bobby Baker of Charleston, S.C.; five grandchildren, Rachel Roy, Stephanie Jackson, Jessica Slackman, Jonathan Baker and Natalie Austin; six great-grandchildren; four sisters, Pagene Cook, Barbara Montgomery and Claudena Bellers, all of Piggott, and Annetta Roberts of Dyersburg, Tenn.; two brothers, Bobby Montgomery of Piggott and Rex Montgomery of West Plains, Mo., and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Feb. 5, in the Hoggard and Sons chapel with Loy Culver officiating. Burial was in the Piggott Cemetery.

Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was charged with the arrangements.
