OEM seeks documentation

Wednesday, February 11, 2009
Over the course of the last two weeks, hundreds of volunteer man-hours have been logged in Clay County, as everyone pulled together to weather the ice storm. Now the Clay County Office of Emergency Management is attempting to document that work for FEMA.

Anyone who worked to clear roadways or donated their time or use of equipment is encouraged to fill out a survey form for the OEM. The forms are available at the office in the Piggott courthouse or you can call them at 598-5365.

"We need to know the names of these folks that helped, a phone number and the dates and hours they worked," OEM coordinator Travis Boyd noted. "We also need the make and model of equipment used along with what tools or other implements they may have used."

Boyd indicated the report needs to specify the equipment, such as "Case 580" for a tractor, and all items should be listed, such as chainsaws, handsaws, trucks, axes and chains. He noted that a form is available at the OEM office in Piggott or that the information can be emailed to him at clay911@centurytel.net

"This information is essential if we're going to re-coup money spent on cleaning up from the ice storm," Boyd added.
