Piggott Mohawk senior Rob Rice closed out his home basketball career in style Friday night, as he eclipsed the 1,000 mark for his high school career in his final appearance at PHS. Rice, the son of Debbie LaPierre, needed just 18 points to hit the mark going into Friday night's homecoming/senior night game with the Manila Lions and finished with 26.

Rice scored the decisive bucket late in the second quarter on a fast break layup, and was fouled on the play. Moments later he ended the first half with a ridiculously long three-pointer, and went into the locker room with 22 points. During the second half the Lions held him at bay though, allowing him to score only four more points.

Last year Rice was chosen to the 3A-3 all conference team, and was an all-state honorable mention for the Tribe basketball team.
