Lessie M. Culver

Lessie M. Culver, 76, of Pollard died Friday, Feb. 13, 2009, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro. She was born Aug. 23, 1932, in Pollard and was the daughter of the late Roy and Dollie Irene (Matchett) Blackwell.

She was married to Virgil "Peck" Culver Nov. 3, 1951, and the couple had three children. She was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 19, 2000, and a nephew, Junior VanWinters.

Survivors include two sons, Rick Culver and wife Vicky, and David Culver; one daughter, Sue Johnson and husband Loran; eight grandchildren, Richie Culver and Kristen, Cody Culver, Michael Culver and Tiffany, Matt Culver and Beth, Richard Johnson and Sue Ann, Melissa Burns and Mike, Samantha Reeves and Kevin, and Scott Anderson; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Jerry VanWinters; one nephew, Kenny VanWinters and Cathy; niece Sandra VanWinters; sister-in-law, Anna Belle Comins and family, Kevin, Elizabeth and Nancy, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were Monday, Feb. 16, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Loy Culver and Sam Book officiating. Burial was in New Hope Cemetery at Pollard. Pallbearers were Jerry VanWinters, Richie Culver, Cody Culver, Michael Culver, Matt Culver, Richard Johnson, Mike Burns and Kevin Reeves. Honorary pallbearers were Scott Anderson, Kenny VanWinters, Zack Baker, Steve Baker, Larry Bauer, John Fillinger and A.J. Conley.

Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of arrangements.
