Delayed by ice, PHS hosts homecoming and senior night

Piggott High School celebrated a belated basketball homecoming and observed senior night for 2008-09 Friday night as they hosted the Manila Lions in senior boys action. Following the pomp and circumstance, the Tribe ended the night with a win and in the process senior Rob Rice eclipsed the 1,000 point mark for his high school career.

The evening began with the introduction of the homecoming court, which included: seventh grade maid Jessie Scheffler, daughter of Bradley and Sandy Scheffler; eighth grade maid was Kayla Morgan, daughter of Neil and Pam Morgan; freshmen maids Paige Lockard, granddaughter of Frances Raney, and Kelli Wierzbicki, daughter of Jo Martin and Stan Wierzbicki; sophomore maids Kelsey Allman, daughter of Bryan and Shelly Allman, and Taelor Lewis, daughter of David and Tina Gossett and Mark Lewis; junior maids Erin Somers, daughter of Chris Somers and Junior Somers, and Brittany Frederick, daughter of David and Rita Frederick; senior maid Alicia Allman, daughter of Bryan and Shelly Allman, and senior maid of honor Kaitlyn Morgan, daughter of Neil and Pam Morgan.

This year's basketball homecoming queen for PHS was Amber Rose Moore, daughter of Gary and Angel Moore. Attendants for the Homecoming court were Jaci Featherston, daughter of Jeremy and Sara Featherston, and Cooper Harris, son of Wade and Erica Harris.

The 2009 Lady Mohawk basketball beau was Josh Small, son of Marilyn Small and Andy Small.

During the senior night festivies a total of 13 students were recognized as they made their final appearance in the PHS gym.

Senior members of the cheerleading squad included Elise Watson, Emily Innes, Colby Laxton, Tiffany Wierzbicki and Nicole Foster.

Senior girls basketball players included Hillary French, Kaitlyn Morgan and Kenna Dennis.

Senior boys basketball players included Rob Rice, Jonathan Wright, Daniel Baldwin, Tyler Grubb and Sam Yates.
