He was born Sept. 24, 1921, in Blytheville and was the son of the late Willie Curtis and Ida Alice (Ham) Culp. He was married Jan. 11, 1948, to Dovie Walker and the couple had two sons.
He was a member of the U.S. Army from 1942-45, serving in New Guinea and the Phillipines. Later in life he farmed, operated Culp's Big Star and the insurance agency Byrun, Culp and Davis. He was a member of the Malden United Methodist Church, having served on various boards for the church.
He also was preceded in death by his brother, Woodrow Culp, and a sister, Imogene Culp.
Survivors include his wife, Dovie Culp of the home; his sons, Johnie Walker Culp and wife Jana of Malden and Stephen Mark Culp and wife Cheryl of Jonesboro; three grandchildren, Samuel Culp, Joshua Culp and Christa Riley; one great-grandson, Mason Riley, and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 21, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Greg Dowler officiating. Burial was in Hall Cemetery at St. Francis. Pallbearers were Ronnie Culp, David Wagster, Charles Lester, Samuel Culp, Joshua Culp and Raymond Santie.
Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of arrangements.
