Lester Crossfield

Lester Crossfield, 78, of Piggott died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, at his home. He was born Aug. 5, 1930, in Greenway and was the son of the late William Silbra "Sid" and Lucille (Shaw) Crossfield. He was married June 1, 1974, to Glenda Renard.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy Crossfield and Wendall Crossfield.

He is survived by his wife, Glenda Crossfield of Piggott; one daughter, Valerie (Crossfield) Walker; two step-children, Vicky Johnston and Lane Vaughn, both of Mississippi; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, John Clifford Crossfield and wife Wanda of Corning and "Dub" James William Crossfield and wife Norma of Clarkton, Mo.; seven nephews and five nieces, along with other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 23, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Mike Book officiating. Burial was in Piggott Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Chet Vaughn, Jared Vaughn, Gale Crossfield, Greg Crossfield, Robbie Crossfield and Mark Crossfield. Honorary pallbearers were Jimmie Speer, Shawn Morris and Kenny Edington.

Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of arrangements.
