Mildred Elmyra Layer

at her residence. She was seventy-nine years old.

Mildred was born to the late William and Ida (Kriegle) Mills in

Clay County. She was a member of the Hopewell Missionary Baptist

Church for fifty plus years

In addition to her parents: Mildred was preceded in death by her

daughter; Lana Shan Layer, six brothers: Roy Mills, Alvin Mills,

Chalmer

Mills, Marvin "Pete" Mills, Carl Mills and Johnny Mills.

She is survived by her husband of fifty-eight years: W.O. Layer, one son

and his wife: Robert and Regina Layer of Paragould, two daughters:

Mickey Ann and husband: James Thompson of Spring, Texas, Michele Layer

of Rector, three grandchildren: Rebecca and Derrick Dale of Spring,

Texas, Matthew and Melissa Thompson of Olive Branch, Mississippi and

Amanda Layer of Rector, two step-grandchildren: Josh Noel and his son:

Zake of Paragould and Justin Noel of Bryant, a sister-in-law: Aleen

Mills of Paragould and a sister niece, Garnetta Thomas of Rector.

Funeral services will be Saturday, February 28, 2009 at 2:00 pm at the

Irby Funeral Home in Rector with Brother Adrian Parker officiating.

Interment will be at the Woodland Heights Cemetery. Visitation was

Friday.
