The contest, held each year in an effort to create community awareness and encourage writing skills, included entries from all the students in Ethel Mohler's writing class at PES.
This year's first place winner was Sidney Risinger, daughter of Tommy and Christy Risinger. Sidney, a member of Mrs. Mohler's homeroom class, was awarded a $50 prize, which she split equally with her classroom.
Second place honors went to Ericka Smart, daughter of Shane and Brandy Smart, who split a $30 prize with her classroom. Ericka is a member of Tammy Cashion's homeroom class. The third place winner was Karesen Williams, daughter of Sam and Melissa Williams. Karesen split her $20 prize with her classroom, and is a member of Kathy Coyle's homeroom class.
All three winners also had the opportunity to go to lunch with Mayor Gerald Morris at the Piggott Diner as part of the recognition.
Dear Piggott Community, I'm the Proudest Kid in Piggott! Its a wonderful place to be. Our
town is full of great people.
I think Piggott is a terrific place to buy things. Dollar General is an easy place to run in and run out when you are in a hurry. Its very clean, and the people who work there are nice. Also, Napa is a good place to buy things for your vehicle and other things around your house. I know a lot of people there. The workers are very nice and funny. Next is Double Play. You can buy Piggott Mohawk shirts there and a lot of other things there. Piggott is a great place to buy things!
Piggott services will help you. I like Crowleys Ridge Vet Clinic. You can take your pet there and get it groomed or have its nails trimmed. Also, you can take your pet there for a regular check-up and shots. Thats where I bring my pets. Another place is the Piggott Police Department. They will help you when you call. But you should only call if its an emergency. Next, is the Piggott Clinic. You can go there for a check-up or for a shot and a lot of other things. You have to call and schedule an appointment. That's where I go. Piggott has a lot of good services!
I love the Piggott annual events. First, I like the Clay County Fair. I like playing the games there. I also attend the pageants. My friends are always there. I love going there. Next is the Rod Run. My family and I enjoy seeing the antique cars. We all have a lot of fun especially me. Last, is the Fourth of July Parade. My brother and I love getting all the candy. Our cousins, aunts, and uncles come over and we play games and we all have a good time. The Piggott annual events are great!
Piggott has great organizations. The Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum is a great place to learn about Ernest Hemingway and his family. Once I met a man who lived there. My grandma took me there. I love going there. I also like the Piggott Public Pool. My brother and I go there almost every day in the summer. I like going down the slide and jumping off the diving board. After that, is the Piggott Public Library. I love going there on Saturday. I like going there because its quiet and I love reading books. I love all the organizations in Piggott!
I'm absolutely the Proudest Kid in Piggott! I love living in Piggott!
Your friend,
Sidney Risinger
