Hosting the Greyhounds last week at Independence Park, the Mohawks got off to a good start but saw the visitors come back to make a game of it. In fact, the Hounds battled back from an early game deficit to take a lead into the final inning. Down to their final outs, the Tribe was able to pull out the win as they scored on a late Marmaduke throwing error. The final score was Piggott 5 Marmaduke 4.
Then on Thursday, the Mohawks traveled to Hoxie and notched their second shut-out of the Mustangs this season 10-0. Junior Colby Lovelace worked the five-inning complete game, as he struck out 11 of the 19 Hoxie batters he faced. Lovelace also helped his own cause at the plate as he got two hits and drove-in three of the Piggott runs. Also producing at the plate were Jonathan Wright, Kyle Wright and Hayden McMillon with two hits each, while Alek Samples and Tanner Murray had one hit each in the winning effort.
Monday afternoon the Tuckerman Bulldogs visited the Tribe, and the two teams took 13 innings to determine a winner.
The Mohawks jumped out to a 1-0 lead on the Bulldogs, as they plated a run in the first inning, but the Bulldogs scored the tying run in the sixth to force extra frames. Throughout the next six innings neither team was able to break the deadlock.
The game winner for the Bulldogs came on a Trevor Adams RBI single in the top of the 13th inning, and the Tribe was unable to answer in the home half, as Tuckerman went on to notch the 2-1 win.
Following the last week of action the Tribe now has a season record of 5-4 overall. Weather permitting; they were scheduled to travel to Harrisburg Tuesday, March 24 for a conference game with the Hornets. The Tribe is also scheduled to make-up a non-conference game with the Maynard Tigers this Thursday, March 26, at Independence Park. The schedule also calls for a road game at Gosnell next Monday, March 30.
