Rector native Mike Randleman of Los Angeles will be the Distinguished Alumni speaker Friday, April 17, for an honor banquet hosted by Arkansas State University's Art, Music and Theatre Departments.

The event will take place at the Fowler Center's Grand Hall.

Appearing before an audience is nothing new for Randleman, 47, a Hollywood actor who has appeared in both cinema and television.

Randleman's interest in acting began as a Rector High School student. He often stole the show as a performer in numerous RHS drama productions and refined his acting skills on stages at Arkansas State University, where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, and at the University of Oklahoma, where he earned a Master's in Fine Arts.

Over the years he has appeared on countless stages and in studios all over Hollywood.

In 2007 he starred in the independent film Four Sheets to the Wind, which premiered at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival. The movie was greeted with a standing ovation. Randleman's other film credits include A Cinderella Story (2004), The Salton Sea (2002) and many others.

In a challenging profession, Randleman has managed to work steadily. He has appeared on The Tonight Show more than any other guest in the show's history and also has made appearances on the television shows Malcolm in the Middle, The Drew Carey Show, Ally McBeal, Cane, Even Stevens, Arrested Development and many others.

Though the full details are still being worked out, Randleman also will take part in workshops at ASU, offering his insight and the benefit of his years of experience to a whole new generation of aspiring Arkansans.

Randleman says he still considers Rector his hometown and plans to arrive early to spend some time with family and friends before engaging in his activities at ASU.

wish you'd told Randleman's parents and siblings, so us old folks would have had some memory of who he was. But we're all proud of him, anyway.

I am so proud of the things that Mike has done. I guess you would say, I am his number one fan. And he has never forgot the good people in Rector. I have never been disappointed in any of his acting endeavors. So keep up the good work Mike, and let us know what your next show will be...

I have never had the privilege of meeting this young man. I am proud of all he has done anyway.
