Fundraiser set at Independence Park

Wednesday, April 8, 2009
The Piggott Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a 50-inning baseball game fundraiser this Saturday at Independence Park. The event, which is being held to raise money for improvements to the ball diamond, will get underway at 9 a.m. and will continue throughout the day.

Organizers report that a pitching machine will be utilized, and added that "special rules" will be observed during the day that should make the game more fun and interesting for participants and spectators.

Those interested in making a donation in support of the cause may contact PHS baseball coach Shawn Hearn at 324-1426 or Brett McMillon at 634-6465. The public is also encouraged to come out Saturday and enjoy the game while supporting a worthwhile effort.
