A tribute to the Rector Woman's Club Honored Lady of 2009, Mary Linam, was held Sunday, April 19, at the Rector Community Center. Approximately 65 people attended the ceremony.

During the event, Linam was presented with a plaque honoring her recognition by member Ethel Stafford Cox. Club president and Mistress of Ceremonies Glenna Bookout read a poem she had written and presented Linam with a gift.

Jane Holifield introduced the Ladies Ensemble of the First Baptist Church, which performed a number of songs from the 1940s and 1950s. A particular favorite of the crowd was their rendition of "I'm Just Wild About Hughey," a revamping of the popular "I'm Just Wild About Harry" with the name of Linam's husband Hughey used instead.

Those gathered enjoyed refreshments consisting of punch, mints, nuts and cookies. Linam also was presented with a specially decorated cake.

Several of Linam's family members attended the event. These included her children Anthony Linam of Rector, Yvonne Linam Mulhollen of North Little Rock, Bill and Carolyn Linam of Hot Springs Village and Mike and Rhonda Linam of Wynne.

Other family members attending were Lloyd and Jonathan Linam of Savannah, Tenn.; Sharon and Steve Hargrove of Chesterfield, Mo.; Wayne Collier of Piggott; Sarah Campbell of Houston, and Rosa Hayes of Paragould.
