He was a retired gas station attendant, was a member of the U.S. Army and had been a POW during the Korean War.
He was also preceded in death by two daughters, Carolyn Kelley and Debbie Kerley; one son, Jerry Smith; one sister, Gertrude French, and two granddaughters, Michelle Lee Owens and Angela Denise Burrow.
He is survived by two sons, James Smith of Rector and Eddie Smith of Kennett; five daughters, Norma McCollum of Paragould, Teresa Burrow of Rector, Barbara Green and Sheila Lack of Piggott and Rhonda Mansfield of Campbell; one brother, Jimmy Smith of Illinois; 18 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services with full military honors will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 6, in the Bradshaw Chapel in Kennett with Bro. Nathan Prim officiating. Burial will be in the Horner Cemetery at Hornersville. Pallbearers will be Donald Edwards, Jr., Bradley Smith, Blake Smith, Dustin Smith, Jerry Stokes, Chris Burke, Justin Bogard and Allen Mansfield.
Bradshaw Funeral Home of Kennett was in charge of the arrangements.
