She was born September 9, 1919, in Piggott, and was the daughter of the late William J. and Lue (Latta) Nettles.
She was united in marriage to Eric Jones on Aug. 12, 1939 and he preceded her in death.
Lona was also preceded in death by six brothers; two sisters and her son-in-law, Bobby Griffith.
Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Griffith and Marilyn Nichols and husband Gary both of Piggott; four grandchildren, Scott Griffith of Jonesboro, La., Kelly George of Arlington, Tex., Erica Harris and husband Wade of Piggott and Rob Nichols and wife Christy of Dexter Mo.; six great-grandchildren, Kaysee and Shelby Griffith, Nicholas and Cooper Harris and Cole and Kate Nichols; brother-in-law, Wayne Collier of Piggott; sister-in-law, Junell Nettles of Manhattan, Kan.; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday, May 28 in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Michael Cox officiating. Burial was in Piggott Cemetery. Pallbearers were Scott Griffith, Rob Nichols, Wade Harris, Neal Morgan, Kenny Collier and Brent Coomer. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of arrangements.
