He was born March 1, 1921, in Senath, and was the son of the late James Oscar and Jennie (Nuckolls) Braden.
He was united in marriage to Norene Brawner May 2, 1942, in Piggott. She preceded him in death June 17, 2006, after 64 years together.
He was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Army and was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Pollard.
Survivors include daughters, Joan Davis of Kennett and Jean Ann Hooten of Pollard; son David and wife Vicki of Pollard; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one sister, Georgia Marie Benfield, and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Olin, his twin Elvis, Jerald and James, along with sisters Wilma and Bonnie.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 14, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Gary Hancock officiating. Burial was in New Hope Cemetery.
Pallbearers were grandsons Jeff Crittenden, Bill Hooten, Matt Hooten, Rick Braden, Tim Gibbs and Mike McGhee. John Brawner served as Honorary Pallbearer. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.
