Dadbags group still needs support

Wednesday, July 15, 2009
To the Editor: We, here in America, have been blessed with another Fourth of July to celebrate and enjoy our freedom. This comes with a cost from so many of our soldiers and their families. Are we beginning to get a little slack in remembering?

Our Dadbag operation is still going -- rather slowly. At the present time, we are only mailing 16 boxes (postage went up a dollar a box recently.) We are highly honored by Bravo Company, and none of them were our local boys, but one from Rector nominated us and we were so grateful. We only have six faithful money contributers every month and we are grateful to them. We have others who give supplies, thankfully! We don't have but a few who come to help us fill the boxes. A special thanks to Nelda Chadwick and Ken Roden for getting the supplies out and setting them up.

Now we are hearing about the 875th returning "somewhere" and we need to start getting prepared. It makes no difference whether they are from Rector, they are all fighting our battles and keeping us safe!

Let us remember our troops and their families in our prayers, but also with our monetary gifts and supplies.

We all get a little slack sometimes, but let's wake up and "smell the roses" and get back in the harness!

Sincerely,

Dadbag Group
