Carter gives praise to Rector

Wednesday, August 12, 2009
To the Editor:

I am so proud to have been born and raised in Rector, Ark. The benefit show the other night was an overwhelming success with a sold out crowd, and who do I thank -- absolutely everyone who played a role. No matter how small a part, the event would not have been such a success without them.

I honestly don't think there is another town in Northeast Arkansas which could have pulled together in spirit and expertise to make such an event happen. Thanks to everyone!

When George Barker, Gloria Reed and I were planning the Foundation, we knew we needed a local leader who had the stature and respect in the community to lead our organization and make it a success. We correctly chose Sherland Hamilton, and he has provided the leadership that has united the community behind Helping Hands. Thanks, Sherland.

God blessed this event with so many qualified and dedicated volunteers that I can't mention them all, however, I must single out two people. This show could not have happened without Gregg Sain and Joey Pruett providing leadership, hard work and expertise to the show. When I am no longer around, I am confident they can continue to put this show on with the same professional tradition as we have witnessed this year. Thanks to each of you.

Also, what about that parking? I don't know Pam Forrest, but I am going to find her the next time I'm in Rector and take her to lunch and personally thank her for an outstanding parking job. I had as many comments about the great parking as I did about the show. What a lady.

I know Rector is as proud of their school as I am, and boy what a staff. By the way, Rob Louder, Mark Manchester, Lisa Manchester, Julia Wyss and retired teacher Kay Huggins contributed so much energy to make our show a success. Thanks.

I love everyone in Rector for stepping up to assist us in helping those wonderful kids in the schools who sometimes need us. Thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks -- and God bless each and every one of you.

See you next year when we will have a bigger and better show.

Blessings,

Bill Carter
