She was married to Elmer P. Holifield Oct. 10, 1936 and they had three children. He preceded her in death.
Freda was of the Church of God faith. She worked a few years as a riveter for a tank arsenal company, served as a cook at the Piggott Grade School cafeteria and retired from Brown Shoe Company where she worked as a fancy stitcher.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Freda May; a granddaughter, Teresa Ann; two brothers, one step-brother, two half-brothers, sisters, step-sister, a half sister and other family members.
She is survived by her two sons, Jerry Holifield and wife Glenda and Larry Holifield and wife Carol, both of Piggott; her sister, Adele Schneider of St. Louis; three half sisters, Linda Conley, Betty Brady and Twilla Causey; two step-sisters, Virginia Causey and Earline Johnson; eight grandchildren, Sheila Vaughn, Shary Fox, Shelly Causey, Shane Holifield, Phillip Holifield, Tammy Gibson and Demetra Holifield; 15 great-grandchildren, Michelle Ramsey, Jackie Vaughn, Jr., Danny Seal, Sarah Seal, Emily Seal, Clayton Bell, Tabitha Book, Jessica Johnson, Shawn Holifield, Cody Holifield, Lisuke Holifield, Aimi Holifield, Fallon Gibson, Sheena Gibson and Steven Gibson; four step great-grandchildren, Jonathan Vick, Kris Causey, Lura Brown and Jena Brown; one step great-great-grandchild, Dakota Book and many other loving family and friends.
Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 10 at the Irby Funeral Home Chapel in Piggott with Bro. Gary Laughlin officiating. Interment followed at the Gravel Hill Cemetery at St. Francis. Pallbearers were Phillip Holifield, Shane Holifield, Shawn Holifield, Lisuke Holifield, Jackie Vaughn, Jr., Danny Seal and Jonathan Vick.
