Rudy Bradford, 92, of Rector, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2009, in the V.A. Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

He was born June 15, 1917, in Clay County, Ark., and was the son of the late Austin C. and Willie Kate (Lovelace) Bradford. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Lewis, Claude and Carlos Bradford, along with five sisters, Zela Dodd, Lela Davis, Inis Burns, Eva Garrison and Mattie Oliver.

He was united in marriage to Lois Tanner on June 12, 1946.

Rudy served his country during World War II from 1942 until 1945 in the 478th Amphibious Engineer Special Brigade, serving in Scotland, Africa, Sicily, Italy and France. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife Lois of the home; son, Gary Bradford and wife Kim of Rector; a very special granddaughter, Amanda Bradford, and other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Aug. 23, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Brother Don Morris officiating. Burial was in Mitchell Cemetery in Greenway.

Pallbearers were Lindall Bradford, Jeff Puckett, Frank Niederkorn, Kem Hardin, Charles Davis, Wayne Oliver, Michael Jetton and Mike Hill.

Honorary pallbearers were Roland Tanner and Gerald McClung. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.
