At CRA last week the Lady Mohawks put up a good effort, and took the host Falcons to five games, but came out on the short end. Crowley's Ridge Academy took the senior set 26-28, 25-21, 25-13, 22-25 and 15-13. The Lady Falcons also took the junior high match 25-23 and 25-21 to complete the sweep.
Thursday afternoon the Lady Bobcats of Walnut Ridge visited PHS for a non-conference set with all but the seventh grade team in action.
The junior "B" squad got things off on the right foot with a 25-15 win in their game, followed by a 25-6 and 25-7 win by the junior "A" squad. The senior "B" team also took their game by a final of 25-16.
In the varsity set it was all Lady Mohawks, as they handled the visitors 25-10, 25-11 and 25-14.
"We may have looked a little out of sync, but we were trying some new lines today," Coach Melissa Williams said of the match.
Following this week's sets with Ridgefield Christian and Harrisburg the senior team will travel to Harrison this Saturday for the annual "Slamfest." The teams will visit Bay next Monday, Sept. 14 and will travel to Brookland on Tuesday, Sept. 15. They'll also host Hoxie next Thursday, Sept. 17 and the junior team will take part in the Valley View tournament Friday and Saturday, Sept. 18 and 19.
