The Lady Mohawk district champion golf team.
The Lady Mohawk golf team won the district championship last week at the Sugar Creek Country Club in Piggott, and earned the right to compete in next week's regional being held at the same location. Piggott's Allison Gurley was the individual champ, as she was the low score medalist, as the Tribe took the title.

Along with Gurley, the other team members for the Mohawks are Breanna Wright, Kayla Morgan, Mallory Wright, Alex Scheffler and Hunter French. All six will take part in the regionals at SCCC next week.

The Lady Lions of Manila took second place honors, with third going to the Rivercrest Lady Colts. Corning and Tuckerman also brought individual players, and they advanced to the regional tourney as well.

Top finishers from next week's regional at Piggott will take part in the 3A state golf tournament for girls, which will be hosted by Bergman High School near Harrison and played at the Big Creek golf course beginning Sept. 30.

The Sugar Creek Country Club is also hosting the boy's 3A-3 district golf tournament, and that was set for today (Wednesday, Sept. 9). The boy's state tournament will be played beginning Oct. 5 at River Oaks in Searcy and is hosted by Riverview High School in that city.
