She was born on April 6, 1931, in Omaha, Neb. Joy graduated from South High School in 1947. Soon after, her love for nursing began and she volunteered as a Candy Striper after school and on weekends.
She was united in marriage with H.J. Bradford in Detroit, Mich., and was blessed with the birth of a daughter two years later, Vicky Lynne Bradford. Three years after Vicky's birth a baby son arrived and was named Gary Lee Bradford, truly another blessing.
Although their marriage didn't last, they remained close friends to the end. She re-married once to William C. Kunnath. This marriage was blessed with the birth of another daughter, Paula D'Anne Kunnath. The family was baptized together at Trinity Episcopal Church.
After the birth of Paula, Joy attended Nursing School for three years, obtaining a Registered Nurse Degree in Battle Creek, Mich. She practiced in the Drug and Alcohol Unit and found it very rewarding.
The titles Joy wore and treasured were Daughter, Mother, Mother-in-law, Wife, Aunt, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, friend and volunteer. She participated in many classes through the years, most recently in computer, sign language and hypnosis. Joy also enjoyed Tai Chi and Yoga.
Josephine was the only child of Gradon Lee Hatch and Monte O. Krick. Joy loved God, Family and Life.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Sep. 12, in Hoggard and Sons Chapel. Burial was in Piggott Cemetery. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.
