"We offer a relaxed, homelike atmosphere to enhance the rehab experience," noted Katrina Groves, rehab director and speech pathologist. "We work closely with your physician or surgeon to provide intensive rehabilitation so that you can return home as quickly as possible. We also offer state-of-the-art exercise equipment and full time therapists to meet all your needs."
The facility offers physical therapy to assist individuals in regaining loss functions; occupational therapy to assist in restoring the ability to perform day-to-day activities, and speech and language therapy to assist individuals with communication skills, chewing and swallowing disorders.
The staff includes Groves, a resident of Brookland, who is a licensed speech-language pathologist and a 2001 graduate of Arkansas State University. The staff also includes Vanessa Dana Guna Pandian of Kennett, a licensed occupational therapist, along with two physical therapy assistants, Tiffany Sharp and Joshua Sharp of Brookland. Josh and Tiffany, who have been married five years, work with a licensed physical therapist that comes to the facility to complete evaluations and establish a plan of care for patients.
"As program director, I'm very proud of the success of the rehab department here at Murphy," said Groves. "Our full-time therapists are highly skilled and extremely motivated to improve the patient's functional condition to the highest level possible. Too often people are not aware that all these services are available locally and choose to travel miles for therapy."
Murphy Health and Rehab is open for referrals and admissions seven days a week and is approved for short term and/or long term rehabilitation.
The facility also accepts Medicare, Medicaid and private pay carriers along with most insurance plans. The admission office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Those who want more information may call them at 870 598-2771.
