Novella Irene Johnson

Novella Irene Johnson, daughter of the late Albert Charles Green and Bessie Alberta Proffer, was born on Sept. 10, 1920 in Puxico, Mo., and died at her residence in Dexter, Mo., on Sept. 9, 2009, at the age of 88.

Mrs. Johnson was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dexter, a lifelong business owner in Dexter and a resident of Dexter.

On April 26, 1978, she was united in marriage to Forrest "Magic" Johnson in Daytona Beach, Fla. Mr. Johnson preceded her in death on Feb. 26, 2002.

Survivors include one daughter, Anita Underwood and husband Byron of Rector; one sister, Erma Straw of Perryville, Mo.; three grandchildren, Carla Shirley of Paragould, Ronald Underwood and Deborah Underwood, both of Rector, and by three great-grandchildren, Elias Reisenbichler of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Whitney Underwood of Paragould and Lacy Underwood of Rector.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Thurman Green.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 11, at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter with Dr. Steve Easterwood officiating. Interment was in Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector.
