Lady Mohawk volleyball

Friday, September 25, 2009
The Piggott Lady Mohawks took on Hoxie at Piggott High School last Thursday evening, and were scheduled to face Crowley's Ridge Academy in an important conference set Tuesday evening at home. The junior girls also were scheduled to take part in a tournament at Valley View this past Saturday, but according to Coach Melissa Williams too many of the players were sick for them to make the trip.

Against the Lady Mustangs last week the junior "B" squad got things off on the right foot with a decisive 25-8 win over the visitors. The junior "A" squad then dropped two of three games 25-19, 23-25 and 21-25. The senior "B" squad then took their game by a final of 25-20.

In the varsity set the Lady Mohawks came out a bit erratic, but were able to put away the pesky Mustangs in four games. The first game went to Piggott 25-12, Hoxie took game two 28-26 and the Tribe finished out with 25-23 in game three and a 27-25 nail biter in the fourth.

Following Tuesday's set with CRA the Tribe will visit Harrisburg this Thursday, Sept. 24 and the senior team will take part in the annual ASU Playday this Saturday, Sept. 26. Next Monday, Sept. 28 they'll host Ridgefield Christian at PHS and Thursday, Oct. 1 they'll visit Hoxie.
