The girl's team, taking on the defending district champions, took their match 9-1 as they move to 4-0-1 on the season. In single's play it was Haley French over Ally George 6-0, Chelsea Covarrubia down Courtney Masher 6-4, Emily Graddy beat Erica Rouse 6-2, Hallie Vannada got by Sarah Stormes 6-4 and Vanessa Johnson shut-out Stacy Roberts 6-0. The only girl's loss came as Alex Scheffler fell to Whitney Woodard 1-6.
The Lady Mohawks also swept doubles play, with Scheffler and Graddy downing Woodard and Rouse, a team that finished fifth in the state last year, by a final of 6-3. Meanwhile, Johnson and Taylor Covert beat Hayley Turner and Stormes 6-3, Elizabeth Ermert and Lauren Brown beat Libby Lane and Tyler Pugh 6-2 and Ermert and Covert shut out Alex Edwards and Mahalia Weaver 6-0.
In boy's play the two-man Mohawk team went 4-0 as they extended their season record to 4-0.
In single's play it was Mark Greaney over Colton Ladyman 6-1, while Beau Alex notched wins over Ethan Williams and Corey Wheetley 6-0 and 6-0. In doubles play the duo of Mohawks beat Logan Ladyman and Brandon Harvey 6-0.
The Tribe was scheduled to take part in a tri-match Monday at Jonesboro, and were slated to makeup a match with Pocahontas on Tuesday. Next Monday, Oct. 5 they're scheduled to take on Harrisburg and Cave City in a match at Jonesboro.
