It's been a roller coaster ride the last couple of weeks for the Lady Mohawk volleyball team, as the squad has posted impressive wins, weathered the flu and came up short in a couple of important conference matches.

Last Tuesday the Mohawks hosted Crowley's Ridge Academy and handed the Lady Falcons their first conference loss of the year. The Tribe pulled out the match 22-25, 25-21, 25-21 and 15-10, and in doing so pushed back into the tough 3A-3 race.

Then, two nights later on Thursday, the girls traveled to Harrisburg and lost a thriller to the much-improved Lady Hornets. The home squad rallied from two games down to take the win, and further jumble things at the top of the conference standings. On the night the scores were 25-16, 25-13, 11-25, 25-15 and 13-15 as the Hornets took the win.

Saturday the Tribe took part in the annual ASU Playday and fell to conference rival Brookland as the Bearcats cruised to the title in the black division's silver bracket.

Monday night the Mohawks hosted Ridgefield Christian at PHS, with the junior girls dropping their match and the senior girls cruising to another win.

The seventh grade Mohawks fell in their match 14-20, 23-25 and 13-23. The junior girls also dropped their set 20-25 and 11-25.

In the senior "A" set it was all Lady Mohawks as they cruised 25-4, 25-13 and 25-22 with a variety of subs seeing a lot of playing time.

Thursday afternoon all teams will be playing at Hoxie with the first match set to begin at 4:30. This Saturday, Oct. 3, the junior team will play in a tournament at Brookland and next Monday, Oct. 5 the Tribe will host Bay at PHS. Coming up Tuesday, Oct. 6 they'll host an important conference match with Brookland. That will be followed on Thursday, Oct. 8 with a trip to Walnut Ridge. Currently the Lady Bearcats of Brookland remain unbeaten in conference and atop the 3A-3 standings.
